Great pics guys.
Today from Oxdrift we have one of Keith\'s \"off the wall\" topics
This is the last week of having the grandkids for the summer sò today we went on a fun road trip ATV style. We headed out to a place south of town called Goldrock. It is located on Upper Manitou Lake and was an active gold mine town from around 1890 to 1939. Wendy and I had our first experience going there in 2014 and I wish we had gone many years earlier before almost everything was destroyed. I am sure you are all questioning what this has of interest to my Dave\'s Garden friends.
Well we discovered a feature still in excellent condition last time we went that if I had a Fairy Godmother who could grant wishes I would want this \"wanded\"\" into my back yard. I am told that back in the day it was the dynamite storage building and it has held up and aged over the years into a fantasy fixture in a rock garden. I am sure the pictures will appeal to you all as gardeners
I believe last time we saw some evidence that it was once roofed with wood covered in red rolled roofing but that is all gone now. As you can see some of the rocks around the door have crumbled away. One sidewall is pretty much all in tact, that is shown from the inside in the 3rd photo. The way the rocks have aged and collected moss is just amazing. The walls are close to 2 feet thick and i would guess the structure may be about 16\'x16\'. Cant you just picture this in my back yard surrounded by hostas and ferns?
PS. Can you see grandpa forgot to pack a rain jacket
