Jen, I didn't stain the Cedar, I oiled it with two parts odorless mineral spirits and one part boiled linseed oil. I doubt it will stay that color, but it would be nice. My Cedar ladder shelving I built to harden off seedlings was built two years ago and wasn't oiled. It's greying now, except where the cat likes to scratch it.
