It is hard to alter peoples handwriting "convincing" unless you're good and practiced. As an artist I have problems with it and I have to practice DH's signature a few times before I can when I pay the bills! We can both sign the checks but there are some that only he writes because it is in his name and some only I write... and some it doesn't matter. The electric company is picky. Because the account is in his name they like him to sign the check. I dunno. If he isn't home to pre sign the check for me I have to on bill paying day. It isn't easy. It's not so hard to alter numbers though; to make 7 a 4 or 3 and 8 or 6 and 8. You should see my checkbook! I can never find the whiteout when I need it! (LOL) That's a shame though you never got the money back. :( Do you know what ever became of that person? I had a problem one time with a credit card company that gave me a problem about erasing charges because the card was actually stolen and used in the store I worked in. They questioned me. What was worse was the store questioned me to like I stole something or did it deliberately when I disputed the charges. The charges got taken care of. So I got a new card, and after that I made a big deal about letting my bosses know "I... WAS... SHOPPING...TODAY! Yes, I needed a new pair of pantyhose, mine looked like the cat chewed them." and just got in the habit of calling the credit card companies also so I never had another issue again. I was never so embarrassed in my life. Seriously? I had keys to the store and dropped off their money at the bank. If I wanted to steal clothes I could have gone in early...like I always did because I was on salary and did a mountain of paperwork .... took off the security tags and put the clothes on before I turned on all the video equipment inside the store! I also had scenarios where I hadn't used my card in such a long time and then did that things got suspended and I had to call the credit card company and let them know who I was, what I was buying, yes it was me, yadada, yadada. So again I just got in the habit of calling them. I hated being embarrassed. It does concern me now though when I shop that nobody wants to see my I.D. with my credit card. They just all assume it is mine and because I'm clean and neat and dressed decently that I wouldn't be the type to steal a credit card and neither would someone else. Not every person in prison looked like a thug with more gang tattoos than teeth. Some of them you could put a suit on and they could walk out looking just like their lawyer. I remember opening instant credit cards for customers and one of the questions on the form was their s.s. number. We would write it down or they would fill out the "quick app" and we would stand on the phone in the middle of the floor blabbing it to the credit dept. Then we would write the approved "new" credit card number on the application and put it in a plastic zip bag with checks ON THE SIDE OF THE REGISTER not in it. The customer got a paper temporary card with their number written on it until they got their plastic one in the mail. Unbelievable right? You would think with all the identity theft around even Medicaid/Medicare would come up with a better number system. I do understand the convenience of the computer. I guess sometimes I forget how convenient it is for those who aren't always able to get out. It is just so worrisome though because it seems they ask for so much information and somehow it seems so accessible to almost anyone. That's the scary thing. They take a great tool and use it for unscrupulous means. Wouldn't it be nice if these people put this talent to use for something so much more productive. Perhaps the F.B.I. should recruit them in lieu of jail time. I couldn't believe the things the inmates could manufacture out of nothing. Anyway gotta go. Seeing neurologist tomorrow. SIGH...EYEROLL. Every time I see him he gives me 3 new drugs to research for myself. They're always a joke. I swear he gives me the most extreme stuff possible on purpose. Oh well, time to go. Have a good day. Most likely talk to you all on Friday. Feel good. Agave.. Pics #1-3 Dave's beautiful shots of a Saguaro Pic #4. A Hibiscus I used to have. Zoe treated it like a salad bar and it died. Pic #5. One of mine! :D Just a cool shot I took of a close up of cactus arm. Loved the rows and dots and spirals and patterns it makes. This message was edited Aug 19, 2015 6:09 PM |
