Much to my surprise, its growth during the first three years is more like our native White Pine. This is one of my very favorite conifers on the place, and my initial thinking was I could candle prune it to keep it in check. However, I'm now thinking this would be a losing proposition based on the growth rate over the past three years. What is the optimal time for moving a pine? Spring has come early here, and the ground is frost free. Should I go ahead and move it now? I could wait another year or two, but it won't get any easier to move. |
