Taken on 30th July 2008, Lincoln UK. These are quite large, with a dirty orange tail and black face. They parasitise the nests of B. lapidarius.

On 30th July, feeding on Callistemon rigidus. Females can have a dirty brown collar on the thorax, males can have them top and bottom of thorax as well as first segment of abdomen, short bands below.

From above the tail looks white on the hair tips.

The face has black hairs, and is quite round.

On 1st August, on Dahlia Bishop's Children, they seemed to prefer pink. Note the hind leg has some hairs, some have none, they don't need to collect pollen as they use the host nest workers.

Three bumblebees together, B. rupestris on the left, a male B. lapidarius on the right and behind a male of either B. vestalis or bohemicus.
