Taken on 16th June 2008, Lincoln UK. A female drying out after emerging, I saw it for at least 4 hours like this on a Lilium plant. More common in south of England.

Cleaning it's wings.

It's wings were still crumpled after 4 hours, I had wondered if they were damaged but hopefully it found a safe place until it was ready to fly.

Working on ironing out the wings. Larvae are associated with Lasius niger, which nest in the greenhouse where I kept the Lilium last year, grown from seed and repotted early this year.
