Taken on 25th August 2008, Lincoln UK. Wingspan 30-40mm, flying from July to September. Attracted to light at night.

Taken on 26th August 2008. It has a sharply defined buff-coloured border at the top of the thorax.

Another moth on 26th August, this one looks very much like Noctua janthina but it's a rare immigrant from the continent, and unlikely to be in Lincolnshire.

It's smaller than Noctua pronuba and lacks the blackish 'triangles' near the wing base edge.

This one has a very purplish hue from some angles.

The underwing has a broader black band, with black streaking from the top leaving only a small area of orange.
