The larvae of this insect are wonderful aphid eaters. The adult lays it's eggs on leaves near aphids. The larvae feed, then pupate without coccoons, attached to the leaves.
Adults overwinter in large groups and emerge May-September.
Found in meadows, crop fields, gardens and marshes all across North America except for the Southwest.
